In a sleepy state and squinting through my 'tiny eyes of a shrew' I roughly digitally coloured a bit of a Night Post panel. For the fun of it. Bed now, eyes dont want to look at anything anymore.

Did trees and stuff also but they look sooo pants. Bed bed bed.

Knew they would serve a purpose one day!

It's 2am and chris has been up sorting his portfolio for the Bristol BICS tomorrow, so, knowing that sleep wouldn't come easy with bright lights and Vampire films and Lily (Hamster) rolling around into piles of paper, I decided to stay up and make a couple more covers which were in my head the other day night when I was too sleepy to make them.

The bottom one's a bit too fuzzy to actually use (unless fuzzy is what you're going for) but wanted to make it anyway :)

Also very nice to know that they may actually be put to some use! By the mighty Ben Read http://www.benjaminread.co.uk/ which would be jolly nice, yes indeed :D

The Graveyard!

Finally (sort of) finished the page thats taken me weeks to get my head around, and looking at it I dont know why, it looks so simple. I think i'm just dusting out the cobwebs of my artistic brain as things seem to be speeding up now (just as I have to stop for a weekend to work in the bookshop, which I like, but gets in the way of drawing mode!)

Anyway here it is. Minus a few details.

top panels will have a background, including trees sort of like this

and 5th panel should have some form of vamp at the top, getting back in to his tomb perhaps. Haven't decided whats in the bottle yet, perhaps tomato juice or something very innocent like that. I quite like tomato actually as it looks like blood. It's like he's a vegetarian or something. ha!

Cover Up

Well, blogger saw fit to shut down and delete everyone's last post, so here's mine again from a few days ago:

Got in from dancing about 10pm and had a strange urge to turn some of my old photographs into book cover templates. Strange, but true. So this is what i've done for the past 2 hours. Bed time! :)

Snail

Work on turning my rough Night post sketches into final drawings is turning out to be a very slow process indeed. This being my first full scale sequential art project, keeping a good narrative continuity from panel to panel, making sure when an angle is changed that all the objects and people are in the right places in relation to the last panel and sorting out perspectives for sometimes 9 different images per page, is taking me a long time.

I've been working on this one page for over a week and i'm still no where near a final drawing. It doesn't help that when I take out my other jobs, I only have 2 or 3 full days a week to actually work on it. Bah. It's frustrating.

On this particular page i've started roughing it out digitally, as it's quicker to move bits around and adjust sections. Just simple shapes etc, then hopefully I can use them as a template, and lightbox the actual drawing over the top to make sure everythings in the right place. Even this is taking me a long time though, starting again when it doesn't make sense and shuffling things about.

^^ It's quite handy for roughly adding figures onto backgrounds, so you can move them about in the environment and see what works best.

Some i've mapped out purely digitally:

^^ This one you can tell i've used some photo refs to block in where I want the figures (minus postie on p1 and vamp on p3 so far). I Don't really like how it looks as if panels 1&2 are supposed to be one image running over. If it was the tomb would be too long. But it think once the other figure is added on the right of P1 it will obscure this illusion. Hopefully.

Hoping things will speed up as I go along :)
