What Do Artists Do All Day?

I was so excited when I heard Shirley Hughes was featured in an episode of this mini documentary series. Seeing any artist in their home/work environment and learning about how they work is always interesting, but spending half an hour with Hughes as she paints and potters about her studio and home town is something extra special.

Even if you're not a lifelong fan like I am, I totally recommend watching this. It's just charming and lovely and it will make you happy.

It's currently on BBC iplayer.

There's a great shot of the view from her balcony and the colours are just amazing. I've been meaning to start sketching buildings recently as it's an area that i'm very much lacking practice in. So today, I thought i'd use this wonderful view as a warm up.

See if you can spot it in the documentary!
